So … occasionally when I am managing my socials, I like to check out what the pesky AI says about my work. Often, it is wildly speculative and plain wrong (apparently, I am fluent in Hindi and Bengali according to one summary).
The sample below is from Grok, X’s AI. Which, interestingly, seems to be named after one of the characters in May Contain Space Pirates Vol1. Mmm … anyway, that potential theft aside (bloody piratical AI), this AI summary is pretty concise, if not a drier than a Garnimp stamp collector’s slide show (If you want to understand that joke, read MCSP Vol1! It’s worth it for that alone). The AI summary is mostly a chewed up, and regurgitated pulp of what I wrote on various platforms and ads, and reviews from my lovely readers. It is also noteworthy that the AI conveniently leaves out the derogatory comment in the original blurb about the Fallen Star’s AI … a bit of AI bias there I wonder? 🤔

Anyway, here it is, for your entertainment:
May Contain Space Pirates Vol. 1 follows the adventures of a character known as Fifty-eight, one of the few remaining humans in Great Space. Fifty-eight finds himself in a precarious situation when he wakes up on the pirate waystation Wombago, which is not the ideal place to hide from mercenaries, bounty hunters, privateers, and smugglers who are all after him.
In his attempt to escape his pursuers, Fifty-eight accidentally joins the crew of the mysterious ship, the Fallen Star. Despite not initially seeking companionship, he finds a makeshift family among the crew, which includes:
The Captain: An endlessly optimistic, toadish character who leads the crew with a positive outlook.
First Mate Mx Scrillion: A forthright sentient jelly-prawn encased in a mech suit, adding a unique alien touch to the crew.
Chief Engineer Amanotto: An easy-going, lion-like Feleon who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle, perhaps hinting at a laid-back approach to (her) engineering duties.
Weapons Specialist Minbuana: A blue reptilian warrior with issues regarding mammals, which might lead to interesting dynamics within the crew.
Ambala: A feline Venan character with many secrets, potentially adding depth and intrigue to the story.
The crew of the Fallen Star is on the run from various threats, including galactic chefs and incompetent mercenaries, navigating through the darker regions of Great Space. Their journey is filled with encounters with militarized parasites, brutish rock monsters, and the ever-present danger of the feared platersnak. The story combines elements of classic sci-fi and fantasy with a dry wit, promising readers a humorous and sweeping space adventure.
This volume sets the stage for a larger saga, introducing readers to the quirky crew and the vast, dangerous universe they inhabit, setting up for more adventures in subsequent volumes.
There you go. Like I said … dry, right? Now go get that well deserved glass of water! 😉 Oh, and check out the actual burb I wrote here. 100% human made gold.
